In Xu's solo exhibition COLORING BOOK, he presents a series of paintings, prints, and artist's books as architectural plans for an imaginary amusement park. Through schematics of this unrealized playground, the artist explores the concept of realization, rendering objects and spaces as distortions, fragments, and blurs, building chaos through absolute order. As the curator of this exhibition and graphic designer, I created three unique art books containing an exhibition curatorial proposal, a brochure, and a portfolio book. The project extends a series of peripheral and creative ideas from the artist's point of view. In the works on display, images from the artist's memory appear overexposed and blotchy, as if the burning sun has bleached their surface, prolonging his search for clarity in his memories.
